Build an n8n node with Cursor in an hour, then cold-email the people selling AI posting templates
The founder of Postiz, an open-source social scheduler, noticed n8n template sellers teaching AI social posting, had Cursor turn his public API into an n8n node, and cold-emailed those creators with an offer. He reports monthly revenue roughly doubling.

The business problem
A small open-source SaaS in a crowded category (social media schedulers) needs a new audience and a way to reach it without changing the product.
What was tried
1. Watch where the audience is forming: here, YouTube videos and paid community groups teaching people to automate AI-generated social posts with n8n templates. 2. Ask Cursor to build an official n8n node from your public API, starting from n8n's starter template (the author says about an hour of work), and submit it to n8n. 3. Hire a freelancer on Upwork to list the founders of those n8n groups and find their emails (the author notes this could be automated but was cheap by hand). 4. Buy a separate domain for cold email and warm it up (he names Lemwarm), then send through an outreach tool (he names Lemlist). 5. Lead with what the recipient gets in return rather than a pitch, with a lowercase subject line. 6. Widen the list to creators of YouTube automation videos and of competitors' n8n templates. 7. Shift product work toward automation (MCP servers, more AI automation features) once the channel works.
What was reported (positive)
The author reports monthly revenue rising from $6,523 to $12,648 in about a month, many new templates using Postiz, zero negative replies to the outreach, and lower churn because automated users rarely need to touch the tool. Part of the jump came from a moderator of a large paid online group building a template with Postiz and its affiliate link, which the author did not plan.
Limitations
Self-reported by the product's founder with no revenue proof in the post, and the post drew no comments to check it. The biggest lift came from one lucky feature in a large community, so the result may not repeat. AI's role is limited to building the integration with Cursor; the outreach list was built by a freelancer. Email volume, reply rates and costs are not given, and the example email was only shown as a linked screenshot. November 2025.
What you need
A product with a public API; budget for a freelancer, a separate email domain and an outreach tool.
