Build and launch a paid AI micro-SaaS in one weekend with ChatGPT, Next.js, Stripe and Vercel

A developer used ChatGPT for ideation, code and copy to ship a $9 content-repurposing tool in a weekend, and reports a handful of paying users and a messy build.

The business problem

A solo builder wants to test whether a narrow AI tool can get paying users quickly, without a long build or a large feature list.

What was tried

On Friday they asked ChatGPT for narrow micro-SaaS ideas and tested prompts on their own content. On Saturday they built a Next.js page with an API route calling OpenAI (gpt-4o) that turns long content into threads, LinkedIn posts, email snippets and video hooks, spending most effort iterating the system prompt. On Sunday they added loading and error states, drafted landing copy with ChatGPT, deployed to Vercel and added Stripe Checkout with a free sample and a $9 one-time paid pack, then posted about it.

What was reported (mixed)

The intro says three paying users and the body says a handful paid in the first week, with the first sale coming from a stranger via a retweet. There were a couple of refund requests, and one customer said it saved about an hour even with edits. No revenue total or conversion rate is given.

Limitations

Results are self-reported and tiny, and the page gives no exact date. The author already knew React. Quality was judged mainly on the author's own writing, validation came from existing contacts, and some output ran long or sounded off. The first deploy broke, the UI was basic, and very long inputs failed. API, hosting and Stripe costs and the time spent beyond the weekend are not stated. The author says the weekend made a first version and later feedback made the product.

What you need

Comfort with React and Next.js (the author's own background), an OpenAI API key, a Stripe account, and Vercel and GitHub accounts. Costs are not stated.
