Connect an AI agent to a merchant-of-record so it can create products and checkout links without owning tax
A vendor tutorial for letting Claude or another agent create a product and a checkout link through a merchant-of-record, so VAT and sales tax are not the founder's filing job.
Evidence: The author reports this. We have not checked it beyond reading the source.
The business problem
An AI agent can write a checkout integration in minutes, but a solo founder selling digital products still has to register for and file EU VAT and US sales tax, which the agent cannot do.
What was tried
The post connects a hosted MCP server from the vendor (AgentaOS) to an agent through OAuth: a remote connector in Claude.ai, ChatGPT or Cursor, or authentication through the MCP command in Claude Code. Alternatively an npm CLI or package is used in server code. The agent is then prompted to add a 29 euro monthly plan and return a checkout link, tested with a standard test card; real payments need the business to be verified first. Six rules for agents are listed: unlock access only on a verified webhook or confirmed session status, create products once rather than per buyer, never retry a failed create without checking state, keep card numbers away from the agent, and let a human supply legal and tax details.
What was reported (not reported)
No outcome reported. The post is setup guidance and a fee comparison (merchant-of-record fees of roughly 3.9 to 5 percent plus a fixed amount per sale), not a result.
Limitations
Written by the maker of the product it recommends, so fees and capabilities are vendor-asserted and unverified. No code, transcript or error-handling example is shown, verification and payout timing are only summarised, and the legal and tax position should be checked independently.
What you need
An agent client that supports remote MCP servers, a business that can pass the vendor's verification, and a product to sell.
Use the vendor's test card in test mode before any live payment.
