Rank an AI-assisted article for a competitive keyword: study page one, rewrite 80 percent of the draft, then have Claude check for stuffing

A writer explains how an article reached first place on Google for a competitive phrase: analysing page-one results, drafting with a long prompt, rewriting most of it by hand, and using Claude to catch keyword stuffing and errors.

Evidence: The author reports this. We have not checked it beyond reading the source.

The business problem

A new article has to compete with established pages for a high-value keyword, and AI drafts alone read as thin or over-optimised.

What was tried

Search the target phrase and review the page-one results, counting how often competitors use the keyword and noting their headings, FAQs and length (mostly over 1,800 words). Generate a draft with a long, detailed prompt, then rewrite roughly 80 to 85 percent of it and cut weak paragraphs. Upload the edited draft to Claude for feedback on keyword stuffing, structure and grammar, and fix what it flags. Add a table of contents, open with a direct question the reader is asking, and share the piece with your contacts.

What was reported (positive)

The article reached third place on page one about two days after publishing and later reached first place. No traffic, click or conversion figures are given.

Limitations

A single case with no analytics shown, and the author does not explain what caused the ranking. The competitor keyword counts are informal ('more than 42'), and his prompt asked for the keyword at least 100 times, which is the kind of stuffing Claude then flagged. The article was written for a client's commercial site, and the post asks for payment and offers writing services.

What you need

A target keyword, an AI writing tool, a Claude account for the review pass, and time to rewrite the draft thoroughly.
