Score incoming leads with OpenAI in an n8n workflow and alert your team in Slack

A hosting company's tutorial builds an n8n flow where a form webhook enriches each lead, has OpenAI score it, saves it to Airtable and posts the score to Slack.

The business problem

A small team gets form leads of mixed quality and wants to spot the best ones quickly without researching each by hand.

What was tried

A webhook receives each form submission. An HTTP request enriches it with People Data Labs, and another request sends the details to OpenAI (the example uses gpt-4) to score the lead. The lead and score are written to Airtable, which acts as the CRM, and a Slack message tells the sales team the details and score. The tutorial shows the nodes but does not give the scoring prompt, the scale, or how to check that scores are accurate.

What was reported (not reported)

The tutorial reports no measured results. It only asserts that the flow identifies high-value prospects and improves sales efficiency.

Limitations

The publisher sells the n8n hosting the tutorial relies on, so treat it as product-oriented content. It gives no costs, no accuracy checks for the AI score, and nothing on error handling, rate limits, webhook security, or the privacy of sending lead data to AI and enrichment services. Only single test runs are shown, so it is not production-ready as written. Two of the four example workflows on the page use no AI at all.

What you need

An n8n instance (the tutorial uses Hostinger's), an OpenAI API key, People Data Labs, Airtable and Slack accounts, and working knowledge of JSON and n8n. Costs are not stated.
