Turn a repurposed newsletter into a week of social posts with a Claude project, Firecrawl and Notion
A newsletter writer built a Claude project that scrapes a published issue, drafts platform-specific posts in their voice, and saves them to Notion for review.
Evidence: The source shows its work: steps, screenshots, code or data you can inspect.
The business problem
Writing social posts by hand from each newsletter issue takes hours every week, and copy-pasting into a chat tool loses the context and frameworks that made the issue useful.
What was tried
The author creates a project in Claude Desktop (a later update says ChatGPT also works) with a long master prompt as its instructions. Pasting a newsletter URL is the only command. Firecrawl, connected as an MCP server, fetches the article. The model analyses the writer's voice and drafts pieces for Substack Notes, LinkedIn and X. A Notion connector saves each draft to a database with its platform, source URL and date. The author then reviews every piece for voice, context, formatting and calls to action before publishing.
What was reported (positive)
The author reports saving 6+ hours a week, about 2 to 3 minutes of processing per issue, and drafts that are 80 to 90 percent ready to publish after three months of use. They also claim 10x more reach, with no data shown.
Limitations
All results are self-reported and no engagement or subscriber metrics are shown. The article gives inconsistent output counts (10+ pieces, 10 Notes plus 5 LinkedIn posts plus 3 threads, or 8 Notes plus 3 LinkedIn posts). Each session must be started by hand, and every draft still needs human review. Setup includes editing a JSON config file for Firecrawl.
What you need
Claude Desktop (or ChatGPT with connectors), a Firecrawl account and API key, a Notion account with a shared database, and a regularly published long-form newsletter. The source does not state subscription costs or Firecrawl free-tier limits.
