The business problem

A partial migration leaves duplicate pages and images dependent on the old domain.

What was tried

Audit post_content and postmeta directly: noindex posts had escaped the crawl. Back up each post's content to postmeta before editing. Download original images, sideload them into WordPress, replace links and stale attachment IDs, and update alt text in markup and attachment metadata. Regenerate missing thumbnails with WP-CLI. Separately, following their SEO contact's advice, the owner retired old URLs with 410 responses and fixed an empty-200 homepage with a hook.

What was reported (positive)

u/easyedy reports repairing about 87 hotlinked images and completing the cleanup under supervision. No traffic or ranking results are reported.

Limitations

One supervised account; no shared script or independent verification. The 410 decision was specific to retiring this domain, not a general migration prescription.

What you need

WordPress access, Claude Code, Novamira MCP, original images and WP-CLI in the described setup.
